The One Hundred Calorie Fib
Here's me on my soapbox:
Is it a good idea to buy these new snack packs that contain only 100 calories? There are new brands of mini products with junk food in mini portions at low calories and these are marketed as a great solution to your junk food cravings.
In my humble opinion, this is just feeding your bad habits. By continuing to eat these foods, even in small quantities, you are justifying them and you won't be able to change your life. Sandwich cookies filled with white icing are NOT healthy for you even if you only eat a handful of miniature versions. Milk chocolate is no better for you in a thin wafer than it is a thick blob of sugary sweetness and if you eat that little bit, you WILL want a second one.
By changing your snack patterns and what you eat, you change your body chemistry. By eating healthful foods, you are doing yourself a favour. Once you start replacing apples for potato chips, you'll start to crave them. If you need to buy apple chips at first to wean yourself off them, that's ok. You've been eating junk for years so it'll take time, willpower and effort to change the way you eat. Soon after you replace bottled water for bottled carbonated beverages, you will find that nothing quenches your thirst better. Don't switch to diet soda, artificial sweeteners are like poison (see aspartamekills.com or mercola.com for more info about sweeteners like Sucralose and Aspartame dangers) switch to pure water. Don't switch to a 100 calorie pack of the same old junk food, change your attitude about what you eat so that you don't have to keep counting calories!
